Folic acid is required for the manufacture of nucleic acids-the genetic material of cells. It is vital for the development and proper function of the central nervous system. Clonfolic is indicated for the prevention of first time neural tube defects (including Spina Bifida) in the foetus. The neural tube is part of the nervous system and is located within the spine. Neural tube defects cause stillbirth, neonatal death and severe disabilities such as Spina Bifida. Clonfolic is indicated for use by all females who are capable of conceiving, whether planning to do so or not.

  • It’s important to take 0.4 mg of folic acid every day for at least 14 weeks before you become pregnant and continue taking it for at least the first 12 weeks of pregnancy
  • Do not exceed the stated dosage.

Ingredients: The active substance is folic acid. Each tablet contains 0.4 mg (400 micrograms) folic acid. The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, maize starch, pregelatinised starch and magnesium stearate

What else to know: Food supplements should not be used as substitutes for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Maintain a healthy diet with plenty of fortified grains and foods like beans, peas, nuts, fruits, leafy greens, which are rich in folate, the natural form of folic acid in foods.
