Otrivine Adult Mucus Relief Menthol 0.1% w/v Nasal Spray instantly cools the nose with aromatic menthol vapours whilst the active ingredient, xylometazoline hydrochloride, narrows the nasal blood vessels and thereby opens up the nasal passages to work all day. Useful for the treatment of nasal congestion, perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), sinusitis.

Otrivine Adult Mucus Relief Menthol 0.1% w/v Nasal Spray instantly cools the nose with aromatic menthol vapours whilst the active ingredient, xylometazoline hydrochloride, narrows the nasal blood vessels and thereby opens up the nasal passages to work all day. Useful for the treatment of nasal congestion, perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), sinusitis.
Information
Suggested Directions: Always read packaging and enclosed leaflet before use. If the person taking this medicine has any medical conditions or is taking other medication consult your pharmacist or doctor before use.
For adults and children over 12 years: One spray in each nostril up to 3 times daily.
Do not exceed 3 applications daily into each nostril.
Do not use continuously for more than 7 consecutive days.
If symptoms persist or worsen seek medical advice.
How to use:
- Blow your nose gently.
- Remove protective cap.
- Hold the bottle upright with thumb under base and nozzle between two fingers.
- Lean forward slightly and insert the nozzle into the nostril.
- Spray and breathe in gently through the nose at the same time.
- Repeat with the other nostril.
- Clean and dry the nozzle before replacing back the cap right after use.
Ingredients: Active ingredient: Xylometazoline Hydrochloride 0.1% w/v, (1mg/ml). Each application contains: 140 micrograms of Xylometazoline hydrochloride.
Alsip contains: Sodium dihydrogen, phosphate dihydrate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride, disodium edetate, levomenthol (menthol), cineole (eucalyptol), sorbitol, polyoxylhydrogenated castor oil (macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate) and purified water.
What else to know: For reasons of hygiene each Otrivine pack should be used by one person only to prevent any cross infection.
Do not use the spray:
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- If you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
- If you have heart disease.
- If you have an overactive thyroid gland.
- If you have narrow angle glaucoma.
- If you have recently had neurosurgery.
