Otrivine Adult Nasal Spray
Otrivine Adult Nasal Spray is an effective decongestant which acts gently to clear a blocked nose within minutes and relieve excessive nasal secretion for up to ten hours. The active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride helps to open up and clear nasal passages by reducing nasal mucus and returning swollen blood vessels to their normal size. Useful for the treatment of nasal congestion, perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), sinusitis.

The active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride helps to open up and clear nasal passages by reducing nasal mucus and returning swollen blood vessels to their normal size. Useful for the treatment of nasal congestion, perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), sinusitis.
Information
Suggested Directions: Always read packaging and enclosed leaflet before use. If the person taking this medicine has any medical conditions or is taking other medication consult your pharmacist or doctor before use.
For adults and children over 12 years: 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril, 3 times daily as needed.
Do not exceed 3 applications daily into each nostril.
Do not use continuously for more than 7 consecutive days. If symptoms persist or worsen seek medical advice.
To produce a fine spray, hold upright with the nozzle pointing upwards. Be careful not to spray in the eyes. How to use:
- Blow your nose gently.
- Remove protective cap.
- Lean forward slightly and insert the nozzle into a nostril.
- Squeeze the bottle once and breathe in gently at the same time.
- Remove the nozzle before releasing the pressure on the bottle.
- Repeat with the other nostril.
- Clean and dry the nozzle before replacing back the cap right after use.
Ingredients: Active ingredient: Xylometazoline Hydrochloride 0.1% w/v, (1mg/ml)
Also contains: benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate, sodium acid phosphate, disodium edetate and water.
What else to know: For reasons of hygiene do not use this bottle more than 28 days after first opening it. Each Otrivine pack should be used by one person only to prevent any cross infection.
Do not use the spray:
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- If you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
- If you have heart disease.
- If you have an overactive thyroid gland.
- If you have narrow angle glaucoma.
- If you have recently had neurosurgery.
